It is R3 day! A day where all students from my school goes around collecting newspapers from certain blocks. We gathered in school, then walk to the blocks we were assigned to. Our form teacher,Mr Poh, split us into groups of eight, a total of five groups. He then tells us,"Your have to go to your assigned blocks and collect newspapers and place the newspapers here.Remember, do not enter the residents homes and do not accept food and drinks they give.Other than that, have fun collecting!"
My group started collecting from the twelfth story. We rang a few bells but there was no answers. We all signed. We all though every block we go to will have newspapers to donate. One of us said,"All the residents must still be asleep!"We asked each block in the twelfth story. When we reached the last block, all of us we already wanted to move down to the next story. When we ring the bell, we saw a little girl walk out from her room. Her eyes were half-open and her hair was very messy. She looked at us and go back to her room. We can not help it but giggled when we walk down the stairs to the next story.
The next few stories are better, many residents smile at us when we asked for newspapers and some even give us a big stack! By the tenth story, we grinned from ear to ear when we look at the pile of newspapers. We then decided to bring all the newspapers we collected to the meeting point. The stack is so much that I can hardly see where I am walking when taking the newspapers! We then continue to collect newspapers. We make trips to the meeting point every two to three stories!
At the last few stories, many other groups helped us and we collected a extremely large pile! With our head tilted upwards, we have a broad grin on our faces. Our assistant form teacher the gave us cookies as reward. When all the groups finished, Mr Poh called the truck to come.It took more than fifteen minutes to get all the newspapers on the truck, even with the help of some upper secondary students! By the time we loaded all the newspapers, my hand was already aching! All of us are perspiring and some of us even panting!
R3 day is very tiring, but all of us have so much fun! We all looked for next years R3 day!
